Durham Autumn Sprint Regatta cancelled

It has been decided for various reasons, some stemming from Covid-19, to cancel Durham Autumn Sprint Regatta for a third consecutive year. The competition was due to have taken place on September 25th, 2021.

The Autumn Sprint Regatta developed from the Veterans and Juniors Regatta and then replaced the Primary Regatta that was last held in 2013 and included both qualifying and non-qualifying events. It has become somewhat enigmatic and for a time focused mainly on junior events. In 2017 and 2018 omnium skills were introduced to help junior members prepare for the exercises introduced at the British Rowing Junior Championships.

Falling so close to the start of the Long Distance Sculling Series it has been questioned whether there is an appetite for sprint racing at a time when many are well into their preparations for the head racing season.
