Club closure during second lockdown

As a result of the Government statement on October 31st 2020 announcing a second national lockdown to counteract the spread of Covid-19, and legislation passed by the House of Commons on November 4th, British Rowing has confirmed that all rowing clubs must close from Wednesday November 4th.

The fob system has therefore been disabled and there will be no access to the building or boatshed. The caravan site is also closed from this date.

All British Rowing competitions scheduled for November, including the Fours Head and Veteran Fours Head, have been cancelled. Rutherford Head which was due to have taken place on the RiverTyne on November 28th has also been cancelled, as has the Club Members’ time trial on the River Wear on November 7th which had been arranged in place of the already cancelled Durham Autumn Small Boats Head and Long Distance Sculling Series.

Boating should not take place from the Durham ARC landing stage during the lockdown.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts and co-operation during the last few months and hope everyone stays safe and well in the coming weeks.
