DARC Pioneer Explore Rowing Programme

The Explore Rowing Programme was launched in Henley on Monday 17th May 2010 by Sir Steve Redgrave.

DARC has become one of six pioneering clubs in the UK to offer the new exciting Explore Rowing Courses.  This new initiative is part of British Rowing’s Strategic Plan 2009 – 13 enabling clubs to attract more participants into the sport, providing resources and support to new and existing rowers such as the vibrant on-line community on the explore rowing website.  The vision behind the programme is one of a more fun, varied and flexible approach for adult rowers.

The courses will run over a period of ten weeks where participants will learn the basics of rowing whilst experiencing the freedom of being out on the water achieving something new.   With logbooks provided the rowers will be able to record their progress for the duration of the course.  On completion of the ten week course individuals will have acquired skills recognised by every club in the country opening the pathway to optional specific rowing challenges as well as recreational or competitive exit routes.   The next scheduled Learn to Row course will commence on Sunday 26th September 2010 from 12 – 2pm at Durham Amateur Rowing Club.
