In September Paddy Deans and Caroline Scholl from Durham ARC joined a group of 30 rowers from across the UK on the annual European Rowing Tour co-ordinated by the British Rowing Recreational Rowing Committee in conjunction with local tour organizers.
The 2026 tour, between September 23rd and 26th, visited Poland, with participants rowing 150km along the River Warta in coxed touring quads provided by the hosts, starting with a walking tour of Poznan on the arrival day and culminating in a 48km row on the final day.
A variety of accommodation included overnight stays in hotels, a bishop’s palace and a horse stud farm, with Polish cuisine provided throughout.
Tour boats
The Warta is Poland’s third longest river at 800km, rising in the south of the country and flowing into the River Oder on the German border. It has no locks.
A good time was had by all.
