By representing Durham ARC in the Prince of Wales Challenge Cup Quinn Mosley became the Club’s first representative at Henley Royal Regatta since 2023 and the first from the DARC Junior squad to take part since the 1990s.
As a member of the GB Under-23 Development squad Quinn raced in the Leander Club, Leeds RC, Durham ARC and Molesey BC composite coxless quad victorious by 3 lengths in their first race on Thursday, July 2nd against Reading University C, before the crew was eliminated in the quarter-final the following day by a more experienced Development quad representing Nautilus RC and Edinburgh University.
Race videos from Thursday and Friday are on the Henley Royal Regatta YouTube channel.
The Prince Of Wales Challenge Cup is for Intermediate Open Quadruple Sculls. The event was inaugurated in 2001 as part of the effort to expand the competition for intermediate-level crews, initially known simply as The Men’s Quadruple Sculls. In 2007 HRH The Prince of Wales – now His Majesty King Charles III – kindly consented to his name being associated with a new trophy for this event.
The event is aimed at crews below The Queen Mother Challenge Cup standard and has similar rules to The Ladies’ Challenge Plate.
Also at Henley Royal Regatta Durham ARC alumnus Matt Edge signed off his 7-year rowing career at Cambridge University Boat Club with victory in the Cambridge University A 8+ against the University of Washington, USA, in the 2026 final of the Temple Challenge Cup.
This was to be Matt’s last competitive appearance with Cambridge. The race video is here.
