GB success for Aidan in Gravelines

A successful international debut saw Aidan Lawlor take victory in the Men’s single sculls at the 2026 J16 GB v France Match in Gravelines on July 11th to help the GB team achieve its third consecutive overall win in the annual match.

Great Britain won the Men’s, Women’s and Overall events by winning 10 of the 14 races contested over a 1500 metre course.

After gaining selection through trials 2 weeks earlier Aidan came home with flying colours on his first GB outing, finishing in a time of 5.57.002.

Congratulations to Aidan and coach Martin Tyler and to all the GB Team, and thanks to Wayne and Owen Thornton of Cambois RC for coaching and logistical support over the weekend. Wayne and Owen travelled to the event with Harry Shaw and Sonny Hughes from Cambois who represented GB in the Men’s J16 2x and were runners up in their event.

The results of each race are shown in the British Rowing report here.

Aidan and his fellow Juniors move on to Nottingham this weekend where they round off the season at the British Rowing Club Championships.
