The second round of the 2025 Sunday League saw 16 teams from 8 different clubs enjoying a series of races over a 250 metre course on the River Wansbeck hosted by Cambois Rowing Club on May 4th.
Among the entries racing in stable coxed quads were two from Durham ARC, DARC Humour in the Open division and DARC Angels in the Women’s division. Numbers were swelled by a second entry from Nithsdale Rowing Club, making the long trip from Dumfries, and one from Berwick, with Tyne ARC again providing 4 entries and Talkin Tarn 3. Cambois who are really warming to the event provided two, and the remaining entries came from Hexham and Tyne United.

DARC Angels at Cambois
Breezy conditions and occasional delays due to mechanical issues meant that racing was curtailed after each crew had completed 3 races.
Cambois and Tyne ARC kept up their good form to maintain leadership in the Open and Women’s categories, and DARC Angels enjoyed some success on their first entry of the season.
Thanks to Cambois for hosting the event, to Tyne ARC and Tyne United for providing two stable quads each, and to Durham ARC for the loan of a vehicle with which to tow the boats.
The next round will be a sculling skills event at Hexham on June 1st. The course plan and skills to be tested in the time trial can be found on the Hexham round page here.
