Scullers Head success as Long Distance Sculling starts

A superlative performance by Quinn Mosley on his first competitive outing on the Tideway took him to 4th place in the Open School/Junior 1x category and 17th place overall in a time of 22.37.93 in the 2025 Vesta Scullers Head on Sunday, September 28th.

The Head which was fully subscribed with 600 entries from the best single scullers in the country, including 70 School/Junior entries, takes place over the 6.8km Championship course on the River Thames between Mortlake and Putney and is hosted by Vesta Rowing Club.

Falling for once on a different weekend from the Tyne Single Scullers Head held two weeks earlier allowed scullers reared on northern waters to demonstrate their versatility on a grander stage in London, and saw Tyne Single Scullers Head winner Ed Gardiner (Cambridge City and Durham University) win the MasA 1x category and place 8th, and runner-up Gwilym Johnson (Newcastle University) win the under-23 1x category and place 10th overall at the Vesta Head.
