Rowing tour of the Rivers Weaver and Dee

Sixteen recreational quads explored the Rivers Weaver and Dee on the 31st Annual British Rowing Tour which took place between August 28th and 31st, with Durham ARC being represented by Julie Wilmore and Charlotte Johnson.

Twenty clubs were represented, including Durham, Hexham, Tyne United and Tynemouth from the Northern Region, with boats provided by Broxbourne, Weyfarers and RuncornĀ  Rowing Clubs supplementingĀ  the 8 British Rowing quads spinsored by Charles Stanley Wealth Management which are located at Isle of Ely and Goring Gap Rowing Clubs.

Based at Frodsham the party of 80 covered around 40km in three days and negotiated three locks along the way, starting from Winsford on the River Weaver in Cheshire and calling at Northwich for a photoshoot and lunch on Friday, and The Grange School before moving on to Runcorn via Ellesmere Port where they visited the National Waterways Museum for a guided tour.

A transfer to Chester on the final day provided an opportunity to row on the River Dee, finishing the tour at Chester Sailing Club.

Excellent hosting by the local clubs at Northwich, Runcorn, Chester and The Grange School ensured it was a memorable weekend.
