Four trial for Wyfold at Henley

The Senior Men followed up their success in the Elite B coxed four at Durham Regatta on June 14th with third place in the E final of the Championship & Tier 2 coxless four at Marlow Regatta which took place at Dorney Lake on June 21st. The crew of John Roxborough, James Gibson, Darren Smith and Ollie Negus placed joint 33rd of 64 entries in the morning time trial to qualify for the final in the afternoon which was a closely contested affair available to watch on the livestream from 4hr 21mins.

The coxless four went to the Henley Royal Regatta Trials on Friday, June 27th where they represented Durham ARC to challenge for a place in Saturday’s draw for the knockout phase of the Regatta in the Wyfold Challenge Cup which gets underway next Tuesday.

With a massive 67 entries for the Wyfold this year 51 crews were required to take part in the qualifiers, vying to join the 16 pre-qualified entries by securing one of the 16 remaining places. The list of Crews Required to Qualify is here and the full list of 768 entries for Henley is here.

A 23rd place finish in the time trial in 7.26.02 was not enough to gain a qualifying place and the crew will therefore take no further part in the Regatta.  Results of all qualifying races are posted on the Results page.
