Community Coach Job Description 2019

Durham Amateur Rowing Club is seeking an enthusiastic Community Coach to provide coordination and coaching for our Learn to Row and community rowing sessions for both adults and juniors.

These courses and sessions provide a structured route into the sport and into club membership as well as generating vital income for the Club and require continuity of coaching.  Coaches will follow British Rowing’s programme for the Learn to Row courses and a programme of development for juniors on the community courses utilising British Rowing Technique and input from the club Coaching Coordinator.

The position will also include delivery of school rowing sessions with the clubs partnership schools.

Learn to row dates and times are not fixed but the applicant will need to be able to work flexible hours to include weekdays during working hours for school sessions, evenings, weekend afternoons for Learn to Row courses and school holidays.

Applicants should be able to satisfy the following criteria:

  • Hold a Level 2 rowing coaching qualification
  • Be able to obtain a DBS check
  • Be able to commit to the programme of courses or sessions
  • Willing to adopt the coaching approach as recommended by British Rowing
  • Have experience of coaching beginner adults and juniors

Salary £24,116 pro rata, on a casual or self employed basis with a minimum of 10 hours per week.
