Heineken Cup weekend

The Masters Women enjoyed a weekend in Amsterdam at the  Heineken Roeivierkamp (Heineken Club Quadrathlon) on March 12th and 13th.

Organised by Amsterdam rowing club Nereus the event which features a unique course set on the river Amstel and situated close to Amsterdam’s historic centre this year marked the 50th occasion since it was founded in 1973.

Over the 2 days crews row four distances: 250 meters, 750 meters, 2500 meters and 5000 metres. The overall ranking is calculated by converting all times to 250 metre times, i.e. the 750 metre time is divided by three, the 2500 metre time by ten and the 5000 metre time by twenty. The sum of these forms the final score.

After some initial trepidation the DARC WMasB quad of Debra Nichol, Kate Sowden, Becky Chilcott, Fe Ashton and cox Meghan McCarthy produced a good performance against some strong opposition from all over Europe and placed 26th out of 40 entries overall in the WMas 4x event.

Results compiled by TimeTeam for the Women’s Masters 4x are available here and for all race categories here.
