Womens Squad

Durham ARC women's squad caters for all levels of rowing, from complete beginner to experience oarswomen. Currently, the Squad has 30 active members, training at levels from novice to elite.

Durham ARC Women

Beginners are coached by our ARA silver award coach, Lynn Pain from basics to de-novicing. Novices actively train with the senior squad for land training and water work alike, which strengthens the resource of the squad.

Senior oarswomen are trained by our team of coaches, and compete at all levels, from local heads and regattas to National and International events such as Women's Head of the River and Women's Henley.

Training and crews are determined by the level of commitment of the individual oarswoman, and crews compete at a level appropriate to that. Basic training includes 2 land training sessions per week (circuit training and weights) plus 3 - 4 water sessions.

The club also has a small number of club single and double sculling boats, and sculling is encouraged for the entire squad.

Durham ARC is also a driving force in introducing women's veteran events at local heads and regattas, and consistently performs well in these, and all categories of events.

New members are always encouraged, both rowers, scullers and coxes. For more information, come down to the club on Monday or Wednesday evenings (7pm) or Saturday and Sunday mornings, or alternatively contact Club Vice-Captain, Becks Lippe, at womens-vc@durham-arc.org.uk.
