Recreational Rowing

Durham Amateur Rowing Club aims to provide access to the sport for all. Whilst the club is very competitive and successful, we also have a thriving recreational rowing squad. These members sometimes dabble with a bit of competition but mostly just participate for exercise and to take advantage of the social side to the club.

The club's flexible approach and the pleasant non tidal water enables recreational rowers to row when they can, although there are times when people arrange to meet to row as a group in anything from singles to eights.

Many of our recreational rowers are the parents of our junior members and we encourage families to become involved in the club with children (and grandparents) always welcome. We have people rowing here on the Wear aged from 10 to 80+ and we always make the effort to ensure everyone has access to the equipment they need.

If you would like to get involved at a recreational level please contact Club Captain Phill Tully on captain@durham-arc.org.uk
