Men's Squad
Club members range from absolute novices to elite athletes and many members row as a social activity too. Current members include people who have been juniors or students, those who have moved to the North East, and people who want try rowing as a new sport. Crews compete locally, regionally and nationally and often at national events such as The Tideway Head of the River, Henley Royal Regatta, the National Rowing Championships of Great Britain.
Join The Men's Squad
The men’s squad prides itself in “working hard and playing hard”. We currently have numerous boats training for the upcoming Head season in sweep oar boats and sculls, so if you’re worried about what boat to row in, don’t worry! You name it and we’ll fit you in! In the 2007 Regatta Season, the 1st IV+ won 4 regattas and the 1st VIII won 2 (both qualifiers) beating teams from all around the North East as well as successfully defending the S3 IV+ races at Northwich Regatta, near Liverpool.

Whether you are an experienced oarsman, or a complete beginner, the Men’s squad welcomes you to come down and join in. We train predominantly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from about 6.30pm and at the weekends from about 9am, although the more hard-core members can be found at the club virtually any evening and sometimes at silly hours of the morning!
The squad has a really friendly feel to it, and has regular nights out often with humerous themes (the last one was a fancy dress outing into Durham dressed as movie characters!) For the more relaxed member, we often stop in the bar after a hard outing and reminisce about stories of old.
For further details, please contact the Men’s Captain, Tim Rhodes or come down to the club at the relevant times posted above to have a look around, a chat or a drink!
