Whilst the club has a thriving commercial arm which helps to generate revenue for the upkeep of the splendid facilities it remains largely a voluntary enterprise and is therefore reliant on fundraising and sponsorship to enable equipment to be kept up to date and fit for purpose, thus allowing the club to remain competitive.
Interest from sponsors, either corporate or individual, is always welcome, and there are several areas in which sponsorship is available e.g. boats, equipment, events or courses.
In addition to takings from events much of the fundraising effort is carried out by members themselves through regular activities and projects such as organising auctions, functions and the sale of food and drink. In recent years bag packing at local supermarkets has proved to be very successful, a day’s effort on occasions bringing in up to £1800. Physical challenges such as long distance cycle rides have also been very successful. New ideas for raising funds will be gratefully received.
